| More fun at the East Lancs, this time with the Hydraulics on a day in which the thrash was immense and the weather was decidedly mediocre. Low cloud sat over Heywood for most of the day and combined with the sunlight filtering through to produce one of those horrible white skies, which are the bane of anyone with a digital camera!
Traction was provided by the Bury Hydraulics Display Squadron, featuring D1041 "Western Prince", Hymek D7076 and Warship D832 "Onslaught" which holds pride of place as the only diesel ever to give me bronchitis. Class 31 D5600 was on hand to provide train heating. Incidentally this event spanned the whole weekend as it included the infamous "Night Rider" (diesel hauled trains running all night) and a turn by 40135 on the Sunday. But I didn't stay for that, so you'll have to use your imagination, or alternatively look at someone else's pictures of the event - http://55013.fotopic.net/c139636.html for example! |
